Truck Driver Appreciation Week

More than 3.6 million truck drivers work daily to safely and efficiently transport the clothing, food, and medicine we depend on. Nearly every item in your house or office was delivered by truck. It's essential that we take the time to appreciate the men and women who depend on us for so many things. Truck drivers and trucks pass by our lives in the background, working hard to deliver safe and timely deliveries.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, truck drivers have been crucial in keeping America moving and open for business. Truck drivers are often regarded as America's first-line heroes. They risk their health to safely deliver food and essential supplies. Restaurants and rest stops were closed, and we were quarantined in our homes while truck drivers worked to ensure we had everything we needed. We must now recognize and thank the truck drivers for moving America's goods.

National Truck Driver Appreciation week is September 11-17, 2022, is and serves as an opportunity for America to recognize professional truck drivers for their sacrifice and hard work. The drivers are the heart and backbone of the economy.

According to American Trucking Associations (ATA), these dedicated drivers transported 11.84 billion tons of freight across the United States in 2021. More than 80% of U.S. communities depend on truck drivers to transport goods, allowing remote areas access to the latest conveniences. Professional drivers work safely to deliver all things that improve our quality of life.

ATA founded National Truck Driver Appreciation Week in 1998 when it began to honor drivers. This week, take a moment to reflect on America's drivers and give thanks. It is difficult to imagine a society with no drivers and their vital role in keeping our communities safe.

America's truck drivers give up precious time to be with their families while they deliver for us. So this week, we take a moment to say "thanks" to them.
