New Upgrades for the 2023 Sprinter

Significant performance improvements have been made to the all-new Sprinter for the 2023 model year. These upgrades, carried over from Mercedes passenger cars, include changes in Sprinter's engine line-up, a new drivetrain, and improved transmission. The all-new models have the same durability and reliability Sprinter is renowned for, but it won't be like any other version you've been before. 

 

The New 2023 Sprinter's Performance Specs 

Four-Cylinder Engines

In 2023, Sprinter bids farewell to the three-liter V6 turbo engine, replacing it with a four-cylinder engine named the OM654 by Mercedes, making the Sprinter's engine lineup exclusively four-cylinder. You can choose the new OM654 engine in 168-hp or 208 horsepower power output ratings; either engine will increase the 2023 Sprinter's capability compared to other models. In addition, the OMG 654 will offer smoother acceleration, greater torque values, lower emissions, and lower vibration levels.

 

All-Wheel Drive

The 2023 Sprinter will also get a new drivetrain. The new All-Wheel Drive (AWD) capability replaces the current 4x4 system. It provides more power and maneuverability and allows you to easily tackle rugged terrain. The 4x4 configuration provided only 35% torque to the Sprinter's front axle and 65% back, but the new AWD distributes torque more evenly. In addition, Sprinter's new AWD system ensures you get the same quality and capabilities as previous models. It maintains the model's ground clearance, approach, departure, and breakover angles.

 

Standard Nine-Speed Transmission 

In 2023, the Sprinter's seven-speed transmission will be replaced with a nine-speed unit to complement its four-cylinder engine lineup. The new nine-speed transmission allows for greater driving comfort, reduced noise levels and faster downshifts. It will also reduce fuel consumption by having a higher overall gear ratio, allowing you to save fuel (and money) while still enjoying your Sprinter.
